The FLIRT 3 (Flinker Leichter Innovativer Regional-Triebzug – Fast Light Innovative Regional Multiple Unit) is a modern commuter train from the Swiss manufacturer Stadler Rail, specifically designed for regional and S-Bahn (suburban rail) services. Since its market launch in 2012, the FLIRT 3 has been one of the best-selling electric multiple unit families in Europe and impresses with its modularity, energy efficiency, and high level of passenger comfort.

The FLIRT 3 is a low-floor electric multiple unit train consisting of several car units coupled with Jacobs bogies. Depending on customer requirements, the vehicle length, number of seats, and traction power can be flexibly configured – typical configurations include three to six cars. The trains reach a top speed of up to 160 km/h and are designed for high acceleration in frequent service.
