The E.656 class is a six-axle Italian electric locomotive class nicknamed "Caimano" (German: Kaiman). It is a further development of the types E.636, E.645 and E.646 with a split locomotive body. However, they have modified axle and trunnion spacing compared to the E.636 type. The high tractive force and the top speed of 150 km/h allow it to be used in front of passenger and freight trains.
