Form variant of the BR 103 as a short version of the DB in Era IV. The model impresses with a heavy die-cast metal frame with a finely detailed housing, the finest paintwork and printing and filigree metal single-arm pantographs. The five-pole, ball-bearing motor with two flywheels ensures excellent driving characteristics. The LED light changes to white/red depending on the direction of travel and, like the cab interior lighting, can be controlled digitally with a PluX22 decoder.

The model has a matching PSD XP sound decoder with the largest possible loudspeaker ex works.

The model bears the “fits mfx®” quality mark. In order to make digital decoders reliably usable for all users of the current Märklin digital centers, a new quality mark “fits mfx®” was introduced together with Märklin and other manufacturers. This can only be used by digital decoders that have undergone a special mfx® test and have passed it completely. These decoders and the locomotives in which they are installed bear the “fits mfx®” quality mark, which certifies the unrestricted mfx® functionality. This means that PIKO products with the “fits mfx®” logo now fully support the diverse functions of mfx®.
