The BR 03 steam locomotive appears as an authentic model in the DB Era III version. Like the original, the model has four large leading wheels, harmonious lamps as well as a matching frame and a faithful replica of the scissor brakes. The external impression is rounded off by the sharply contoured printing and the short locomotive plate.

The model comes with a matching PSD XP sound decoder as well as digitally switchable lighting in the chassis and driver's cab areas. In addition, a red flickering LED in the area of the firebox can be switched digitally.

The model bears the “fits mfx®” quality mark. In order to make digital decoders reliably usable for all users of the current Märklin digital centers, a new quality mark “fits mfx®” was introduced together with Märklin and other manufacturers. This can only be used by digital decoders that have undergone a special mfx® test and have passed it completely.
These decoders and the locomotives in which they are installed bear the “fits mfx®” quality mark, which certifies the unrestricted mfx® functionality. This means that PIKO products with the “fits mfx®” logo now fully support the diverse functions of mfx®.
