One of the legendary TEE multiple units made a spectacular comeback in the summer of 1990: Leased by the German State Railway (DRG) as a ten-car set, including a reserve power car, it ran as the IC "Max Liebermann" between Hamburg and Berlin from August 1st to September 29th, following in the footsteps of an equally legendary predecessor. As early as the 1930s, the DRG had established a high-speed rail connection between these two cities with the "Flying Hamburger."
